Weather Journal

This past school year, Kaylen and her class kept track of the weather in their very own weather journals. When she brought hers home I thought it was very cool. We decided to keep our own journal to track the weather this summer.

We started off with a cover. We just used some construction paper to cut out letters and glued them to another piece of paper.

We cut out different weather elements to make a picture on the inside of the cover.  In hindsight, this would have been a cool cover, but it worked out.

I created a tracking sheet on Microsoft Word that the kids could use. There is a square on the bottom is where the kids draw a picture of what the weather looks like.

This is what a completed page looks like. Kaylen colored her version of what "hot" looked like and then we put the temperature in the corner.  We track the weather at different times each day so that we have a variety of observations.  We tied it all together by putting it through a 3 hole punch and then putting clips through it. You could also use ribbon or put it into a binder.
